ERIC Testifies at Treasury / IRS Hearing on Proposed Transition Rules on Hybrid Plans


Today, the Treasury Department and Internal Revenue Service (“IRS”) held a hearing on the proposed regulations relating to hybrid plans.  ERIC, represented by Richard Shea and Robert Newman of Covington & Burling, testified at the hearing.
 
The government panel included Treasury Department officials including, Harlan Weller (Chief Actuary) and Bill Evans (Attorney – Office of Policy).  IRS officials from the Tax Exempt and Government Entities Division included Victoria Judson (Associate Chief Counsel), who ran the hearing, Linda Marshall (Senior Counsel), Laura Warshawsky (Manager), David Ziegler (Supervisory Actuary), and Neil Sandhu (Attorney).  The government panel did not testify at the hearing, but listened to the testimony of the witnesses and asked various questions of the witnesses.  Four individuals testified at the hearing.
